Time: 7:30 p.m. 
Location:  Municipal Building, Selectboard Meeting Room
This election is conducted in the traditional "from the floor" manner. 


Tuesday, May 14, 2024 
Annual Election of Officers and Voting by Australian Ballot "Town Meeting" and Barre Unified Union School District Budget Revote. 
Time: Polls are open 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. 
Location: Barre Town Middle and Elementary School gymnasium
Voting articles: municipal budget (General and Highway Fund), Elected Offices (Selectboard, Town Clerk, and Moderator), not-for-profit agency requests, and a Charter Amendment. There will also be a Barre Unified Union School District Budget revote.

EARLY OR ABSENTEE BALLOTS FOR THE MAY ELECTION:

If you previously requested an early ballot to be mailed to you for the May election, the Town Clerk’s Office will mail your ballot out as soon as they are available. Additionally, if you requested an early ballot be mailed to you for the Barre Unified Union School District March 5, 2024 election you will automatically be receiving an early ballot.

The latest you can request ballots for the May 14, 2024 election is the close of the Town Clerk's Office on May 13, 2024.  Email Tina  to request your ballot. You can also request absentee ballots through My Voter Page.  

BALLOT RETURN OPTIONS:
BEFORE MAY 13, 2024:
  • In person to the Town Clerk's Office - 149 Websterville Road
  • Drop box outside Municipal Building - 149 Websterville Road
  • Mail - Town of Barre, PO Box 124, Websterville, VT 05678 - Please allow 7-10 days for mail delivery. 
ON MAY 14, 2024:  
  • Hand deliver to polling location by 7:00 p.m. - Barre Town Middle and Elementary School, 70 Websterville Road

Statewide Primary
Time: Polls are open 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. 
Location: Barre Town Middle and Elementary School gymnasium

Offices to be elected: U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Treasurer, Secretary of State, Auditor of Accounts, Attorney General, all (30) State Senate seats, all (150) State Representative seats, and High Bailiff.
Other Information: You will be given 3 ballots (democratic, progressive & republican). In a Primary Election, you may vote for candidates of ONLY 1 Party on only 1 ballot, or your vote will not count. You don’t have to tell which party you are voting in, but you can only vote for candidates on one party ballot in the primary election. (There is no voter registration by party in Vermont.)
*Please note that the Secretary of State is NOT mailing all active voters ballots for this election. Ballots will be available on June 29, 2024 and voters must contact the Town Clerk's Office to request an early ballot.

General Election
Time: Polls are open 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. 
Location: Barre Town Middle and Elementary School gymnasium

Offices to be elected:  U.S. President & Vice President, U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Treasurer, Secretary of State, Auditor of Accounts, Attorney General, all (30) State Senate seats, all (150) State Representative seats, High Bailiff, and Justices of the Peace.
Other information:  The Secretary of State's Office WILL be mailing ballots to ALL active voters by September 20, 2024 based on the registered mailing address that was on file on September 1, 2024. You do not need to vote this absentee ballot, you can still vote in-person at the polls on Election Day but you will need to either return your unvoted absentee ballot or compete and affidavit of no ballot cast.
